Who makes Buzz Drops™?

Feb 27, 2026The nama Team

nama™ manufactures and sells the original Buzz Drops™, a liquid THC tincture that turns any non-alcoholic beverage into a cannabis-infused drink. nama is a US-based hemp company founded in 2021 that makes precisely dosed, hemp-derived THC and CBD edibles and beverage mixers.

nama created Buzz Drops™, the original THC drink drops with 2.5 mg of THC and 2.5 mg of CBD per serving. Copycat brands sell unofficial Buzz Drops imitations.

Since Buzz Drops gained popularity as an alcohol alternative, brands have started selling copycat products using our trademark. These knockoffs are not made by nama, not tested by nama, and don’t provide the nama Buzz Drops experience.

The only place to buy the real Buzz Drops is from nama's official website.

What are Buzz Drops?

Buzz Drops are a liquid THC and CBD tincture made by nama. Add them to any non-alcoholic drink (water, juice, tea, sparkling water, mocktails) to create a cannabis-infused beverage that delivers a mild, relaxing buzz without intoxication or impairment.

Each full dropper contains a precise microdose of 2.5 mg Delta 9 THC and 2.5 mg CBD. The drops are flavorless, so they won't change the taste of your drink. Effects begin in 10–20 minutes and last 2–4 hours.

Buzz Drops use water-soluble cannabinoids, which means they absorb faster than other oil-based tinctures. This fast onset is why many people prefer Buzz Drops to other edibles for social situations. nama also makes Buzz Packs, a powder version with the same cannabinoid profile (5 mg THC, 5 mg CBD per serving) that dissolves in any beverage.

Who founded nama?

Christopher Whelan founded nama in 2021. Chris's path to the hemp industry started during college, when he was diagnosed with cancer in his third year. He beat cancer, and the experience reshaped how he thought about health and what he put into his body.

After recovering, Chris explored fitness and training. Then, he went to law school where he graduated top of his class. He built a legal career working for federal judges. Throughout all of it, Chris spent his free time studying the hemp and cannabis industry. He took courses, read research, spoke with experts, and searched for a natural, clean, effective product that met his standards.

He never found a product that satisfied him. The ingredients were off, the company missions felt hollow, or the product offerings fell short. So he built his own company.

nama launched in 2021 out of Clifton, New Jersey, with a focus on precisely dosed, hemp-derived edibles and beverages made from American-farmed hemp. Today the product line includes THC edibles, CBD edibles, functional mushroom supplements, and of course, THC drink mixes

Why do copycat Buzz Drops exist?

Buzz Drops became one of the most popular THC drink products in the US, and that success attracted imitators. Several brands now sell liquid THC drops under the "Buzz Drops" name or market themselves as equivalent alternatives.

These copycat products are not affiliated with nama. They are manufactured by different companies, with different ingredients, different sourcing, and different (or nonexistent) testing standards.

The problem is that consumers searching for Buzz Drops may encounter these knockoffs and assume they are getting the same product. They are not. nama's Buzz Drops are the original, and nama is the only company that manufactures them.

Are copycat Buzz Drops safe?

The hemp and cannabis industry has minimal federal regulation in the US, which means any company can manufacture and sell THC products without mandatory testing or quality oversight.

Potential issues with knockoff THC drops include:

  • Inaccurate dosing: The label says 2.5 mg THC, but the actual amount could be higher or lower
  • Contaminants: Pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, or microbial contamination
  • Unverified hemp sourcing: No transparency about where the hemp was grown or how it was processed
  • No or poor third-party lab testing: Lab results that are outdated, from unaccredited labs, or fabricated

nama publishes third-party lab results for every batch of Buzz Drops. We use organic hemp extracts, maintain strict quality control, and our products contain no artificial additives. When you buy from nama, the dose on the label matches the dose in the dropper. This is what separates a reputable manufacturer from a copycat.

Buzz Drops FAQ

Buzz Drops are non-alcoholic. They contain only purified water, water-soluble THC, and water-soluble CBD. Buzz Drops are a healthier alternative to alcohol for people who want a social buzz without the negative effects of drinking.

Buzz Drops are a liquid you add to beverages, while THC gummies are solid edibles you chew and swallow. Buzz Drops use water-soluble cannabinoids that absorb faster (10–20 minute onset vs. 30–60 minutes for gummies). Gummies last longer (up to 8 hours, compared to 2–4 hours for Buzz Drops).

Buzz Drops are legal in most US states under the 2018 Farm Bill because they are derived from hemp and contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. Check nama's state-by-state legality guide and your local regulatory body before buying.

Buzz Drops contain Delta 9 THC, which is detected by standard drug tests. If you are subject to workplace drug testing, use caution. nama also offers broad-spectrum CBD gummies with zero THC for those who need to avoid THC entirely.
